What is Preptober?
Preptober is the month-long journey that sets the stage for NaNoWriMo, where writers from around the world come together to write 50,000 words in just 30 days.
But before the writing frenzy begins in November, preparation is key. Preptober is your opportunity to brainstorm, outline, and get your creative juices flowing, ensuring you're armed with everything you need to succeed in NaNoWriMo.
Join me twice a week, Mondays & Wednesdays at 7pm ET, and plan along with me. I'll be using the same process I use to start all my novels and teach in the Imaginary Worldbuilding: Creating Fictional Worlds for Writers course.
Whether you're a seasoned writer or just getting started, Preptober is for anyone who wants to be NaNoWriMo ready.
- Week 1: Choose your story idea & begin developing the story world.
- Week 2: Create a logline to direct the writing. Draft an outline.
- Week 3: Set up your story bible & deepen the world and backstories.
- Week 4: Determine what you need to know before you write.
